As South Floridians, our February trip to Sax-Zim Bog, Minnesota was a big departure from warm weather and local birds. This unique mixed habitat has many interesting local and visiting species that we were hoping to see. While some were easier to find then others, it was a fun “treasure” hunt.
Special thanks to the Traveling Tomlins for their enthusiastic bog tips, the Friends of Sax-Zim Bog for their support of this area and its visitors, and our guide, Judd Brink, for his keen eyes and local knowledge. Our stay at Alesches Accommodations was comfortable and close with great fellow travelers.
It made our cold weather expedition much more enjoyable!
We put together a highlights slideshow from our adventure and a gallery with some of the images. Image gallery link.
