For our first year of birding, we decided to visit Southern Texas to see all the specialty birds the Lower Rio Grande Valley had to offer.
In November, the crape myrtle flowers bring in a wide variety of butterflies making it a great time to see something new. The number of butterflies in the myrtle was amazing!
Special thanks to the naturalists at Estero Llano Grande and Bentson-Rio Grande Valley Texas State Parks for giving guided tours to visitors. Both were very interesting, fun and recommended.
Our highlights slideshow includes many of the specialty birds unique to the Southern Texas tip. We hope you enjoy the images!
